HowLegit assesses whether what a company says publicly is supported by publicly available evidence — and whether what the public actually experiences matches what the company claims.
We work at every scale — from a single webpage or pitch deck, to a full organisational audit, to sector-wide intelligence covering dozens of brands across multiple jurisdictions.
We do not conduct on-the-ground inspections or physical audits. Our methodology is designed to direct verification efficiently — giving procurement teams, investors, regulators, and specialist partner agencies a clear map of where claims hold up and where they do not.
When a company makes a claim, you should be able to see what the evidence actually shows. HowLegit exists to make that possible — for investors, procurement teams, regulators, consumers, and the organisations themselves.
Founder, HowLegit
For over 15 years, Galeno has worked at the intersection of business strategy, sustainability, and behavioural change — across Cambodia, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Central Europe. He has advised the United Nations Development Programme, the Royal Government of Cambodia, and the Polish Government, and has coached startups through Google-funded accelerators for impact and the Callaghan-funded Startup Aotearoa programme in New Zealand.
At HowLegit, Galeno leads methodology development, client relationships, and the auditor framework. His work is rooted in a simple observation: most organisations don't communicate badly out of dishonesty. They do it because nobody has shown them the gap between what they say and what the evidence actually supports.
Analyst and Auditor, HowLegit
Marika has spent her career inside the gap between what organisations say and what they actually do. She led Talent Development and HR at an Australian startup bringing clean, affordable electricity to last-mile communities across Cambodia, the Philippines, and Nigeria — and learned, at close range, what it looks like when a company's values are real, and what it looks like when they aren't.
That experience didn't make her cynical. It made her precise.
Marika brings that precision to every HowLegit audit, making sure our reports don't just sound rigorous, but are.
HowLegit audits combine AI-assisted evidence collection with human analyst review and supervised final reporting. Every report is assessed against publicly available information only. We do not conduct on-the-ground inspections. Where our findings indicate gaps that require physical verification, we identify the questions clearly so that specialist agencies can answer them efficiently.
If you disagree with a finding, submit additional evidence and we will review it. We give the benefit of the doubt — some gaps are genuine oversights, not deliberate choices.
We cross-subsidise audits for MSMEs, social enterprises, and nonprofits who are genuinely trying to improve but cannot afford the standard rate. Apply via our contact page.
Grades are never changed based on commercial pressure. Only evidence changes findings.
Our findings are designed to direct on-the-ground verification efficiently. We identify where the questions are. Specialist partner agencies answer them.
